Lucid Remastering

Install Lucid server edition on vmware machine to minimized the installation space

Install the Desktop Manager, you can choose lxde, xfce, kde, or gnome.

Install Cairo-dock

Configure the desktop

Install all needed packages

Add deb http://www.geekconnection.org/repository/remastersys /karmic to install remastersys

$sudo remastersys dist cdfs #to make system distribution livecd/installer

$sudo remastersys backup cdfs #to make system backup livecd/installer

$sudo remastersys dist iso image.iso to make the burnable .iso file in /home/remastersys/remastersys/ directory

copy your new .iso file

$sudo remastersys clean #to rmeove all remastersys temporary files

Mikrotik RB1000 is a new generation special designed for a big capacity router.

Specification :
- PPC8547 1333MHz CPU
- 512MB SODIMM RAM
- 4 port gigabit ethernet
- RouterOS Lv.6
- NAND + 2 CF slot storages
- Powerjack 12v

With 4 independent gigabit port this router can manage up to 3 Gbps connections. The negatif side of this product is indoor use only, so the minipci and POE feature is not presented.

Mikrotik NTP-Server

Some time we need a NTP-Server to synchronized local clock,after reboot. Mikrotik can do this job, but not recommended for a Routerboard.

Example :

/system ntp server set enabled=yes mode=multicast

note:be sure your mikrotik time is correct.

Now your PC Router became a ntp server needed by another router [include Routerboard]

note: you can set your ntp server locally to protecting from intrunder

Changing IP address of the Laserjet 1320n printer

To change the IP address of your LaserJet 1320n:
- Turn on the printer
- Wait for 1 to 3 minutes for Printer start
- Print a coniguration page holding down the green button until the attention LED is blinking
- Release it, 3 pages will be printed.
- Connect your PC/Laptop to the printer using a network cable.
- Adjust the IP address and Subnet Mask of your PC/Laptop as your Printer IP address and Subnet (PC’s IP address = Printer’s IP address +1; AND PC’s Subnet Mask = Printer’s Subnet Mask).
- Open a web browser that installed on your PC/Laptop.
- Type the Printer’s IP address at the address field.
- Now you can configure your Printer include the IP address under Networking menu.

Mikrotik NTP-Client

A Routerboard doesn’t have a battery, so they will lost the time after reboot. To set time automatically, we can use the NTP-Client tool on Mikrotik.

Example :

/system ntp client set enabled=yes mode=unicast primary-ntp=202.44.204.114 secondary-ntp=203.190.112.18

After a while we can check the Mikrotik clock have synchronized to NTP-server.

note: you can use your own ntp server [mikrotik PC router]

Configure the Mikrotik Hotspot service

The MikroTik HotSpot Gateway enables providing of public network access for clients using wireless or wired network connections. HotSpot Gateway should have at least two network interfaces:
1. HotSpot interface, which is used to connect HotSpot clients
2. LAN/WAN interface, which is used to access network resources.

The router should have 2 NIC cards:
1. ether1
2. ether2

Set a Bridge interface

Example:
interface bridge add name=Bridge1

Set 2 interface as bridge ports

Example:
interface bridge port add interface=ether1 bridge=Bridge1
interface bridge port add interface=ether2 bridge=Bridge1

Set IP Address

Example:
ip address add address=192.168.0.1/24 interface=Bridge1
